Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Monday, February 13, 2012.

The trough of low pressure that brought unsettled weather to the West on Sunday will advance into the Plains on Monday with more mixed precipitation. The trough will support a low and associated warm front moving eastward into the Southern Plains. As the system progresses, rain showers with periods of heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms will spread from parts of central/eastern Texas into western Louisiana, mixed precipitation will develop in parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas, and snow will blanket parts of the Central Plains, Mid-Mississippi Valley, and parts of the western Ohio Valley. Areas from eastern Texas through Arkansas should expect the heaviest precipitation totals. Heightened winter weather conditions will allow Winter Weather Advisories and a few Winter Storm Warnings to remain in effect through the day. Elsewhere east of the Continental Divide, lake-effect snow showers will continue along parts of the Lower Great Lakes Snowbelt.

In the West, a Pacific cold front pushing across the Pacific Northwest will drop southward across northern California, bringing coastal and valley rain and significant snowfall to the Sierra Nevadas.

Winter Weather Advisory
Mobile & Email Alerts Statement as of 10:46 PM CST on February 12, 2012

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon CST
Monday...

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until noon CST
Monday.

* Timing: light to moderate snow will continue across central and
southwest Oklahoma overnight... with a gradual decrease in
activity from from west to east through noon Monday.

Light to moderate snow is expected to mix with or change to
sleet and possibly light freezing rain after midnight... especially
across southern Oklahoma. Precipitation will end from west to east on
Monday.

By noon Monday... wintry precipitation should come to an end with mostly
light rain expected across the eastern half of Oklahoma.

* Snow and sleet accumulations: widespread snow and patchy sleet
accumulations are expected overnight into early Monday
morning... averaging 2 to 3 inches. Isolated locations may receive
over 4 inches of snow before the system finally exits to the
east.

Accumulations of ice: freezing rain or areas of freezing
drizzle will be light. Some locations across southern Oklahoma
could see a few hundredths of an inch of ice accumulation.

* Main impact: roads... especially bridges and overpasses... will become
slick and hazardous. Slick conditions will also be possible on
untreated sidewalks and parking lots.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be careful if you have to travel. Even small amounts of ice and
snow can make roads and sidewalks slick and dangerous.
