regional weather discussion... scattered showers continued this afternoon in an area extending from north central into southwest Oklahoma and western North Texas. Most of the activity was located in a band extending from Medford... to Hobart... to Vernon. An isolated thunderstorm or two will also be possible this afternoon. Rainfall rates will average generally less than one quarter of an inch per hour. The area of showers will continue to move slowly east during the afternoon... although through mid afternoon... most of the activity should remain west of a line from Stillwater... to Oklahoma City... to Wichita Falls. The rain is associated with a slow-moving upper level storm system located over the southwest United States. Elsewhere... a cold front that extended from near Blackwell... to Hinton... to west of Vernon... will continue to move southeast this afternoon reaching the Interstate 44 corridor by late afternoon. As the front moves through... temperatures will quickly fall from the 70s into the 50s as winds shift to the north at 15 to 20 mph.
