regional weather discussion... at 115 PM...a cold front was moving east and south across the western third of Oklahoma. Ahead of the cold front the atmosphere has become very unstable across central Oklahoma. The instability axis was located north and south near the I-35 corridor where cape values range from 3000 to 4000 joules. As the cold front moves into central Oklahoma this afternoon widely scattered thunderstorms may form. Areas from Chandler to Pauls Valley to Ardmore may see the first storms develop between 2 and 3 PM. If storms can develop they will become rapidly severe with very large hail and damaging winds. People planning outdoor activities this afternoon should monitor the weather closely and be ready to seek shelter quickly.
