Hazardous weather...
* bands of moderate to heavy snow continue to track across far
northeast... and east central Oklahoma as well as much of
northwest Arkansas. Reports of 8 to 12 inches of snow have been
received across portions of Washington and Benton counties in
Arkansas... along with Adair and Delaware counties in Oklahoma.
Also... 5 to 9 inch snow reports have been received across
several northeast and east central Oklahoma counties and into
Crawford and Sebastian counties in west central Arkansas. The
bands of moderate to heavy snow will continue into the early
afternoon hours... and continue to impact much of northeast
Oklahoma and northwest and west central Arkansas.
Light freezing rain has been reported over far northeast
Oklahoma resulting in a glaze of ice on elevated surfaces.
Total ice amounts will remain light due to temperatures at
or above freezing... however gusty northerly winds may still
impact any ice glazed power lines or tree limbs.
The precipitation will gradually end during Sunday evening.
* New snow amounts of 5 to 9 inches are likely across far
northeast Oklahoma into northwest Arkansas... including the
cities of Fayetteville... Jay... Westville... Miami... Tahlequah
... .and Sallisaw. New snow amounts of 2 to 5 inches are likely
further west and south across the remainder of northeast and
southeast Oklahoma... as well as west central Arkansas.
Additionally... light ice amounts around one tenth of an inch
are ongoing across far northeast Oklahoma... with this light
icing likely to spread into far northwest Arkansas later today.
Impacts...
* travel will become very hazardous or impossible. Power outages
are likely in some areas
* counties where it was reported that roads were slick in spots...
