A Winter Weather Advisory will replace the warnings in effect for far northwest Arkansas extreme northeast Oklahoma. The warnings for the rest of eastern Oklahoma and west-central Oklahoma will be discontinued. At 320 am two bands of moderate snow continued to work across eastern Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas. The eastern most band was across Carroll County. The final band of this storm was located across northeast Oklahoma and extend into the area near and southwest of Fort Smith. The snow had ended west of a line from Bartlesville to Tulsa to Wilburton. An additional one half to one inch of snow will occur across extreme northeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas during early Christmas morning as these snow band shift east. Winds will relax as the storm center continues to move away... but gusts of 25 to 35 mph are still occurring in many areas and these winds are causing blowing and drifting of the snow on the ground. The winds have become more westerly...meaning that north to south roads are now the most susceptible to blowing and drifting snow. Snow drifts of 1 to 3 feet are common in northeast Oklahoma in the areas where the heavier snow fell. The blowing snow is resulting visibilities to be locally reduced at times.
