Nowcast | as of 11:53 am CDT on July 30, 2015

At 11:53 am...Doppler radars detected isolated showers over parts of Osage County...with other widely scattered showers and thunderstorms further north and west across north-central Oklahoma and southern Kansas. All of this activity was moving very slowly to the east-southeast. This complex of showers and storms has produced an outflow boundary which was moving southeast through northeast Oklahoma...and has at times provided the focus for additional isolated development. Through 2:00 PM...isolated to widely scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible across parts of northeast Oklahoma...mainly to the north of the Interstate 44 corridor... however development will remain possible along the outflow boundary as well. While overall convection will struggle in the slightly more stable airmass in place across the area...as the afternoon continues and instability increases with daytime heating a gradual increase in potential convection is expected. Light to moderate rainfall will be common with any showers that occur...with hourly rainfall rates ranging from one tenth up to one quarter inch. Where thunderstorms occur...hourly rainfall rates of one inch per hour are likely...and in conjunction with the slow movement may result in localized flooding issues. Brief gusty winds are also likely with thunderstorms. Also remain aware of the lightning dangers in and near thunderstorms.
