Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 9:24 AM CDT on June 03, 2015

The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
north central Pushmataha County in southeast Oklahoma...
southeastern Pittsburg County in southeast Oklahoma...
southern Latimer County in southeast Oklahoma...
west central Le Flore County in southeast Oklahoma...

* until 930 am CDT Thursday

* the heavy rainfall from the past couple weeks has caused area
lakes... small creeks and streams... low water crossings and low lying
areas as well as the main Stem rivers to flood. This flooding will
likely continue for much of this week. Area lakes are near or over
full capacity. High releases are required and this may flood the
downstream rivers. Also... tributaries that feed into these
reservoirs will also back up and flood until lake levels get under
control. Roads near the lakes and main Stem rivers may be under
water due to flooding... especially near lakes Wister and Sardis.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where water covers the Road to
unknown depths. It only takes two feet of rushing water to carry away
most sport utility vehicles and pickups. Take a different Route to
reach your destination or wait until the water recedes. Remember...
most flood related deaths occur in automobiles.
