thunderstorms develop this afternoon... possibly bringing relief by
this afternoon. Areas to the south will continue to see hot
temperatures into the evening hours. A cold front will move
through tonight and bring much cooler temperatures Sunday.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A heat advisory means that a period of hot temperatures is
expected. The combination of hot temperatures and high humidity
will combine to create a situation in which heat illnesses are
possible. Persons spending time outside should lessen their
activity... drink plenty of liquids... preferably water. Take
frequent breaks and wear light colored... loose-fitting clothing.
Strenuous activities should be reduced... eliminated or rescheduled
to the coolest time of the day. Prolonged exposure combined with
physical activity can cause heat exhaustion and heat stroke.
Never leave children or pets in a closed... parked vehicle!
Temperatures inside can reach over 150 degrees quickly... resulting
in heat stroke and death.
