... Accumulating snow possible for the panhandles Wednesday through Thursday morning...
A winter storm system will move across the southwestern states and through the southern rockies by mid week. A reinforcing surge of colder air will move through the panhandles by late Wednesday. In advance of the system... moisture will be on the increase across the panhandles. The storm system will combine with the cold and moist air mass to bring a chance of snow to the area.
It appears that the greatest potential for accumulating snow will occur Wednesday night through Thursday morning... with all of the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles receiving some snow. At this time... two to five inches of snow are possible across the area. In addition... strong northerly winds are expected Wednesday night and Thursday which may result in areas of blowing snow... low visibilities... and low wind chill values.
There still remains some uncertainty with the exact track and timing of this storm system. However... it does appear now that the location of the heaviest snowfall should be across the northern and eastern sections of the Oklahoma and Texas panhandles. Travel may become difficult Wednesday and Thursday. You are encouraged to keep up to date with the latest forecasts from your National Weather Service.
