The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
west central Arkansas
southern Oklahoma
eastern Texas Panhandle

* effective this Tuesday afternoon and evening from 400 PM until
1000 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
scattered large hail likely with isolated very large hail events
    to 3 inches in diameter possible
scattered damaging wind gusts to 70 mph possible

The Severe Thunderstorm Watch area is approximately along and 55
statute miles north and south of a line from 60 miles west of
Clinton Oklahoma to 25 miles south of Poteau Oklahoma. For a

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Remember... a Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch
area. Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for
threatening weather conditions and listen for later statements
and possible warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally
do produce tornadoes.

Discussion... isolated thunderstorms are expected to intensify over
southeast OK in the next hour or so... while other storms form over
the eastern TX Panhandle and western OK later this afternoon.
Storms will likely spread across the watch are through the evening

Aviation... a few severe thunderstorms with hail surface and aloft
to 3 inches. Extreme turbulence and surface wind gusts to 60
knots. A few cumulonimbi with maximum tops to 500. Mean storm
