Areal Flood Advisory, Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 9:23 PM CDT on May 22, 2015

The National Weather Service in Tulsa has extended the

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
Sequoyah County in east central Oklahoma...
Choctaw County in southeast Oklahoma...
Haskell County in southeast Oklahoma...
Latimer County in southeast Oklahoma...
Le Flore County in southeast Oklahoma...
southern McIntosh County in southeast Oklahoma...
Pittsburg County in southeast Oklahoma...
Pushmataha County in southeast Oklahoma...

* until 1230 am CDT

* at 920 PM CDT... Doppler radar indicated showers and a few
thunderstorms across a large part of southeast oklahhoma... moving
to the east at 30 mph. Rainfall coverage has decreased some this
evening... although periods of moderate rain will continue.

* Locations that will continue to be affected by heavy rain
include... most of southeast Oklahoma along and south of Interstate
40.

Excessive runoff from this storm will cause flooding of small creeks
and streams... highways and underpasses. Additionally... country roads
and farmlands along the banks of creeks and streams and other low
lying areas are subject to flooding.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Vehicles caught in rising water should be abandoned quickly.
Move to higher ground.

flood situation.

Anyone who has outdoor activities or travel planned over the
coming Holiday weekend should closely monitor conditions for
possible closures of roads and recreational areas... and plan
accordingly.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means rapidly rising water or flooding is
possible within the watch area.

If you are in the watch area... keep informed... and be ready for
quick action if flash flooding is observed or if a warning is
issued.

If you live near... or travel across a stream... creek or river
often subject to flooding... now is the time to prepare for
dangerous flooding.
