regional weather discussion... Early this morning...the hot weather pattern continued...with already in the middle and upper 80s at 9 am. Upper level high pressure was centered over the Texas Panhandle. Cooler weather was in place north and east of the Southern Plains...where a stationary front was in place across southern Missouri and southern Kansas. A small portion of the front had slipped into extreme northern Oklahoma this morning...running from near Alva to Cherokee and Wakita. The western end of this shallow front will mix northward during the heat of the day...but thunderstorm outflows coming from eastern Kansas may push the front into more of Grant and Kay counties later today. Numerous high clouds and light winds near the front will hold temperatures closer to 100 degrees...while the rest of Oklahoma and western North Texas will again climb to well above 100 degrees. Some locations will exceed 100 degrees by noon. West to southwest winds will average 10 to 15 mph in most areas. Western Oklahoma will see winds occasionally increase to between 15 and 20 mph...with higher gusts.

You should also make sure that pets and livestock have access to fresh water.
