Areal Flood Warning
Statement as of 9:59 PM CDT on July 07, 2015

The National Weather Service in Norman has issued a

* Flood Warning for...
northwestern Cotton County in southwestern Oklahoma...
south central Caddo County in southwestern Oklahoma...
Comanche County in southwestern Oklahoma...
southeastern Tillman County in southwestern Oklahoma...

* until 400 am CDT Wednesday

* at 954 PM CDT... heavy rainfall had ended across the warned
area... but excessive runoff from earlier heavy rains will maintain
a threat of flooding into the overnight hours... especially in low
lying and flood prone areas... and areas that commonly have
standing water following heavy rains... such as fields near creeks
and streams... and pasture lands.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Lawton... Cache... Apache... Elgin... Grandfield... Geronimo...
Chattanooga... Medicine Park... Devol... Faxon... Loveland... Boone...
Fort Sill... Meers... Lake Ellsworth and Lake Lawtonka.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Move up to
higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to
flooding when water begins rising.

To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.
