The National Weather Service in Amarillo has issued an

* Urban Flood Advisory for...
northeastern Sherman County in the Panhandle of Texas...
northwestern Hansford County in the Panhandle of Texas...
southeastern Cimarron County in the Panhandle of Oklahoma...
southwestern Texas County in the Panhandle of Oklahoma...

* until 1100 PM CDT

* at 755 PM CDT... National Weather Service meteorologists detected an
area of stationary thunderstorms with heavy rainfall along a line
extending from 10 miles southeast of Boise City to 7 miles east of
Griggs to 9 miles southeast of Texhoma. Doppler radar indicates 1 to
2 inches of rain have already fallen over parts of the advisory area
with additional heavy rain expected. Runoff from this excessive
rainfall will cause flooding to occur... especially along small
streams and near low water crossings.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Texhoma... Griggs...

north central Dallam County in the Panhandle of Texas...
south central Cimarron County in the Panhandle of Oklahoma...

* until 1030 PM CDT

* at 736 PM CDT... National Weather Service meteorologists detected a
thunderstorm with heavy rainfall 13 miles east of felt... or 14
miles south of Boise City. Doppler radar indicates 1 to 3 inches of
rain have already fallen over parts of the advisory area with
additional heavy rain expected. Runoff from this excessive rainfall
will cause flooding to occur... especially along small streams and
near low water crossings.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
mainly rural areas of northern Dallam and southern Cimarron
counties.

areas... in Oklahoma... Beaver... Cimarron and Texas. In Texas...
Armstrong... Carson... Collingsworth... Dallam... Deaf Smith...
Donley... gray... Hansford... Hartley... Hemphill... Hutchinson...
Lipscomb... Moore... Ochiltree... Oldham... Potter... Randall...
Roberts... Sherman and Wheeler.

* Through 10 am Tuesday morning

* scattered to numerous thunderstorms are expected to continue to
develop this evening and tonight across the Texas and Oklahoma
panhandles. Very heavy rains are likely to occur. One to two inches
of additional rain can be expected in most locations... with
isolated amounts around 4 inches occurring with some of the
stronger storms.

* Flash flooding could impact travel. Fast flowing water can
sweep vehicles from roadways.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
