Areas of active weather will persist over Europe on Sunday, as a low pressure system continues spinning over the Bay of Biscay. Counter-clockwise flow around this system will continue pushing moisture in from the North Atlantic Ocean. This will trigger more widespread showers across France, moving into southern Ireland by evening as the system slowly advances northward. Thus, wet weather will diminish for the Iberian Peninsula and regions surrounding the western Mediterranean Sea. However, to the east, a trough of low pressure will linger over the eastern Mediterranean countries, kicking up scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day. Rome will be west of this system with partly cloudy skies and dry conditions with highs remaining in the mid-70s(F)/ lower 20s(C). Expect afternoon thunderstorms in Athens with highs also in the mid-70s(F)/ lower 20s(C). Meanwhile, Barcelona will remain pleasant with a few patchy clouds with highs in the upper 70s(F)/ mid-20s(C).

North of this system, a ridge of high pressure continues building over the North Sea and advances southeastward into the European Mainland as well as extending eastward into Scandinavia. Flow around this system will push moisture away to the south, allowing for dry and warm conditions across northern and central Europe. London and Oslo will be sunny with highs in the upper 70s(F)/ mid-20s(C), while Paris will see some lingering clouds with highs in the mid-70s(F)/ lower 20s(C).
