Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 4:02 PM EDT on June 30, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch in effect until 10 PM EDT this evening...

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a

* Flash Flood Watch for portions of northeast Kentucky...
southeast Ohio and West Virginia... including the following
areas... in northeast Kentucky... Boyd and Greenup. In southeast
Ohio... Gallia... Jackson OH and Lawrence OH. In West Virginia...
Cabell... Jackson WV... Kanawha... Mason... Putnam and Roane.

* Until 10 PM EDT this evening

* a line of showers and thunderstorms will move through the area.
These storms are capable of producing 1.25 to 1.75 inches of
rain in an hour.

* Localized flooding of poor drainage and low lying areas are
possible... especially along small streams and ditches. Street
flooding is also possible with these storms... especially where
storm drains and culverts can't keep up with the rainfall.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.

You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action
should flash flood warnings be issued.
