... Flood Watch now in effect through Friday morning...
The Flood Watch is now in effect for
* the northern Adirondacks of New York... the entire Champlain
Valley... and the remainder of Vermont.
* Through Friday morning.
* Rainfall will be moderate to heavy at times across much of
northern New York and Vermont today. Thunderstorms will also be
possible... and produce locally heavier rainfall. Storm total
rainfall amounts of 2 to 4 inches are forecast... with isolated
amounts to 5 inches. Rain will taper off overnight tonight... but
flood effects could linger into Friday morning.
* Rainfall over the previous week has saturated soils and
increased the water levels in rivers and streams. Additional
runoff from todays rainfall will increase the flood threat
across a good portion of the north country.
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding. You should
monitor later forecasts... and those living in areas prone to
flooding... should be prepared to take action should flooding
develop.
