... Flood Watch in effect from Wednesday morning through Wednesday
evening...

The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a

* Flood Watch for portions of northwestern Connecticut and east
central New York... including the following areas... in
northwestern Connecticut... northern Litchfield and southern
Litchfield. In east central New York... eastern Dutchess...
eastern Ulster... western Dutchess and western Ulster.

* From Wednesday morning through Wednesday evening

* a winter storm will bring about the possibility of flooding for
small streams and roads across the southern Catskills and the
Mid Hudson region of New York and Litchfield County Connecticut
Wednesday and Wednesday evening... as snow changes to rain which
will then melt much of the snow that has just fallen. The threat
of flooding will be greatest on roadways where piles of plowed
snow block the drainage of water.

* Snow is forecast to begin over this area around midnight Tuesday
night... with two to six inches before the snow starts mixing
with rain. The snow will begin to mix around daybreak across the
lower elevations of the Hudson Valley and Connecticut but
persist longer across the higher elevations of the Catskills.
The mix will turn to all rain later in the morning. With
temperatures rising to near 40 the rain will melt much of the
snow... resulting in flooding of paved surfaces and rapid rises
on small streams to near bankfull.

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on
current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible
flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be
prepared to take action should flooding develop.
