Statement as of 3:15 PM EST on December 08, 2009 ... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 10 PM this evening to noon EST Wednesday... A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect from 10 PM this evening to noon EST Wednesday. Snow will begin across northeast Pennsylvania late this evening... then overspread central New York around and shortly after midnight. The snow will mix with and change to rain by daybreak Wednesday over northeast Pennsylvania... with some sleet and freezing rain possible... especially over higher elevations. Across New York... the snow will change to rain Wednesday morning around or just after sunrise... with some sleet or freezing rain possible during the change-over... especially over higher elevations. Snow accumulations from this storm will range from 3 to 5 inches across most of the advisory area. A light accumulation of ice is also possible... especially over the higher elevations of the Poconos and Catskills. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving. |
