Coastal Flood Advisory
Statement as of 3:26 PM EST on November 12, 2009
... Coastal Flood Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM EST this
evening...
... Coastal Flood Advisory in effect from 3 am to 7 am EST
Friday...
The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a coastal Flood
Advisory... which is in effect from 3 am to 7 am EST Friday. The
coastal Flood Watch is no longer in effect. A coastal Flood
Advisory remains in effect until 6 PM EST this evening.
The combination of strong east to northeast winds and high
astronomical tides are expected to cause tidal piling... while long
period easterly swells will prevent drainage of waters from the
bays.
Minor flooding is expected once again with the high tide cycle
into this evening with tidal departures of 1 1/2 to 2 ft.
Minor coastal flooding is expected again during the times of high
tide Friday morning with positive tidal departures of 2 to 2 1/2
ft expected. Localized moderate flooding is a possibility.
In addition to coastal flooding... high and long period easterly
swells will likely result in high surf and moderate beach erosion
through Saturday.
