Statement as of 6:43 AM EST on January 30, 2015

...Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect from 6 PM this evening to 11 am EST Saturday...

* locations...Litchfield County...Berkshires...greater capital region...Mid Hudson valley and the Catskills.

* Hazard types...dangerous wind chills.

* Wind chill...as low as 24 below.

* Timing...tonight through Saturday morning.

* Winds...northwest 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Temperatures...dropping to around zero or a little lower tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and strong winds will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must venture outdoors...make sure you wear a hat and gloves.

..snow covered and slippery roads could make for a slower than normal morning drive across the capital region...Mid Hudson valley...Catskills...Berkshires and Litchfield County.

Periods of snow have produced an inch or two in many areas overnight. While treated roads might be mostly wet...there could be patches of black ice on them...especially ramps and overpasses.

Secondary roads are likely to be snow covered and slippery.

If you are out this morning driving or walking...allow a little extra time to reach your destination and exercise caution.

An additional inch or two of snow is expected to fall before the snow tapers to scattered snow showers by afternoon.

Then...it will turn windy with falling temperatures during the afternoon.

By tonight...dangerous wind chills are expected as temperatures tumble to near zero along with gusty winds making feel even colder.
