... Winter Weather Advisory now in effect until 6 am EST
Wednesday...

* locations... eastern New York and adjacent western New England.

* Hazard types... snow... sleet and freezing rain.

* Accumulations... snow accumulation of 2 to 6 inches... along with
up to a tenth of an inch of ice.

* Snowfall rates... up to half an inch an hour.

* Timing... snow will begin this afternoon and mix with or change
to sleet and freezing rain this evening. Precipitation will
taper off late tonight.

* Impacts... hazardous travel conditions due to snow and ice
covered roads.

* Winds... south 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Temperatures... in the mid to upper 20s... rising into the lower
to middle 30s late tonight.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.

At 542 PM EST... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
bands of heavy snow... along a line extending from near Dolgeville to
6 miles west of Richmondville to 4 miles southeast of Prattsville
moving northeast at 25 mph.

* Locations impacted include...
Albany... Schenectady... Troy... Saratoga Springs... Rotterdam...
Amsterdam... Cohoes... Gloversville... Loudonville... Watervliet...
Latham... Johnstown... Delmar... Scotia... Colonie... Rensselaer...
Little Falls... Mechanicville... Cobleskill and East Greenbush.

Heavy falling and blowing snow will create near zero visibility.

Locations can expect 1 to 2 inches of snow with these bands of snow
in the next 1 to 2 hours.

This includes the following highways...
Interstate 90 between mile markers 8 and 6-5a.
Interstate 890 near mile marker 7.
Interstate 87 between mile markers 1 and 9.
Interstate 787 between mile markers 2 and 8-7.
