The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued an

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...

southern Cayuga County...
northern Cortland County...
Madison County...
southern Oneida County...
Onondaga County...
extreme northwestern Otsego County...
east central Seneca County...

* until 100 am EDT

* at 856 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain was falling...
and will result in minor flooding.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to
Hamilton... Oneida... Onondaga... Syracuse... Taunton... Westvale... New
Hartford... Utica and Auburn.

Showers and thunderstorms will continue across the area through this
evening. This rain will combine with heavy rain from earlier today
to produce totals of 2 to 4 inches across parts of the advisory
area... which will be enough to cause minor flooding in poor
drainage areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of floods.

* until 1230 am EDT

* at 826 PM EDT... Doppler radar indicated heavy rain was falling...
and will result in minor flooding.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to Seneca
Falls... Waterloo... Penn Yan and Auburn.

A third round of showers and thunderstorms will move across the area
through 10 PM. Rainfall totals for the day will range from 2 to 4
inches across much of the advisory area by late this evening...
which will be enough to cause minor flooding in poor drainage areas.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

In hilly terrain there are hundreds of low water crossings which are
potentially dangerous in heavy rain. Do not attempt to travel across
flooded roads. Find alternate routes. It takes only a few inches of
swiftly flowing water to carry vehicles away.
