* Flash Flood Warning for...
southeastern Lassen County in northern California...
southern Washoe County in western Nevada...

* until 915 PM PDT

* at 610 PM PDT... Doppler radar and weather spotters indicated a
thunderstorm producing very heavy rain and pea size hail along Red
Rock Road north of Stead and along Highway 395 south of Hallelujah
Junction.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Hallelujah Junction... Red Rock Road north Silver knolls and Stead.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. A few inches of fast flowing water is
powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the Road.

alpine... El Dorado and northwestern Douglas counties and Carson
City...

At 604 PM PDT... heavy rain is decreasing in the area... however flash
flooding will continue along foothill Road south of Genoa and west
of Gardnerville. Rocks and debris may also be covering portions of
Kingsbury grade.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...

southern Washoe and Storey counties...

At 537 PM PDT... heavy rain over the Reno-Sparks area has moved north
to the Cold Springs valley... Red Rock and Stead areas. Flash
flooding is likely in these areas during the next hour.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Cold Springs valley... Stead... Red Rock... sliver knolls.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Runoff will quickly flood low lying areas including
streets... creeks... and rivers. Many roadways will be covered in
water... mud and debris. Dirt roads between the Cold Spring Valley
and Stead area may be washed out.

Never drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear. A few

the threat for flash flooding will continue as rainfall makes its
way down from high terrain.

heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is occurring or
expected to begin shortly.

* Some locations that will experience flooding include...
fort Churchill station... Silver Springs... alt Hwy 95 between Silver Springs
and Yerington... and Hwy 95 south of Fallon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway.

Debris flows often contain massive boulders and contain mudslides covering roadways.
People living below burned areas should take immediate action to protect life and property.

rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is occurring or expected
to begin shortly.

Excessive rainfall over the warned area will cause mud slides near
steep terrain. The mud slide can consist of rock... mud... vegetation
and other loose materials.

northwestern Lyon and Storey counties...

At 359 PM PDT... trained weather spotters reported a extremely
dangerous flash flood in the Six Mile Canyon area. Water is flowing
into homes with several roads covered in water. Water will flow into
areas north of Highway 50 between Dayton and Stagecoach.

Some locations that will experience flooding include...
Dayton... Stagecoach... Six Mile Canyon... U.S 50 between Dayton and
Stagecoach.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

This is a very dangerous situation! Flood waters and debris will
quickly inundate low lying areas... streets... streams... creeks... and
rivers. Many roadways will be closed due to the heavy rainfall and
travel is not recommended.

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 9 PM PDT this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* portions of east central California and western Nevada...
including the following areas... in east central California...
greater Lake Tahoe area and Mono. In western Nevada... greater
Lake Tahoe area... greater Reno-Carson City-Minden area and
Mineral and southern Lyon counties.

* Until 9 PM PDT this evening

* thunderstorms will be slow moving and capable of producing very
heavy rain in a short period of time. These brief heavy rains
could lead to flash flooding and debris flows... especially in
areas of steep terrain and near burn scars from recent
wildfires.

* Roads could be impacted by flooding... debris flows and rock
slides making travel hazardous.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that flooding of small streams... creeks
and other drainage areas is possible within the watch area.
People in the watch area should monitor weather.Gov/Reno for
updates and be prepared for immediate action should heavy rains
and flooding occur or a Flash Flood Warning be issued.
