Statement as of 3:06 PM PDT on July 06, 2009 ... Red flag warning remains in effect from 11 am to 11 PM PDT Tuesday over the western Nevada basin and range for gusty winds and low humidity... A red flag warning remains in effect from 11 am to 11 PM PDT Tuesday. Strong gusty winds are expected to occur Tuesday afternoon and evening across the western Nevada basin and range. West winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph are forecast to combine with afternoon humidity of 5 to 10 percent. With fuels rapidly drying across this area below 7000 feet... the increasing winds will become conducive to rapid fire growth. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions will occur. Continue to check weather.Gov/Reno for updates. 306 PM PDT Mon Jul 6 2009 ... Red flag warning remains in effect from 11 am to 11 PM PDT Tuesday over eastern California into the Sierra front and western Nevada for gusty winds and low humidity... ... Fire Weather Watch remains in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday evening over eastern California into the Sierra front and western Nevada for gusty winds and low humidity... A red flag warning remains in effect from 11 am to 11 PM PDT Tuesday. A Fire Weather Watch remains in effect from Wednesday afternoon through Wednesday evening. Strong gusty winds are expected to occur Tuesday afternoon and evening across the Sierra front and south to Mono and Mineral counties. Southwest to west winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 40 mph are forecast to combine with afternoon humidity of 5 to 10 percent. With fuels rapidly drying across western Nevada and eastern California... the increasing winds will become conducive to rapid fire growth. Gusty southwest winds are forecast again Wednesday afternoon and evening with winds of 15 to 20 mph and gusts to 35 mph as relative humidity drops below 15 percent.
