Statement as of 3:00 PM PDT on July 04, 2009
... Fire Weather Watch in effect from Tuesday morning through
Tuesday evening...
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a Fire Weather
Watch... which is in effect from Tuesday morning through Tuesday
evening.
The strongest winds this week are expected Tuesday afternoon and
evening across western Nevada. West winds of 15 to 30 mph with
gusts to 40 mph possible. In addition... afternoon humidity will
drop to 5 to 10 percent for several hours. With fuels rapidly
drying across western Nevada... potential weather conditions are
conducive to rapid fire growth.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are forecast to occur. Check weather.Gov/Reno/fire for updates
and possible red flag warnings.
