... Lake Wind Advisory in effect from noon Wednesday to 7 PM PDT Thursday...
The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a lake Wind Advisory... which is in effect from 12 PM Wednesday to 7 PM PDT Thursday.
Northeast winds will increase to 10 to 20 mph with gusts around 30 mph Wednesday afternoon and will continue through Thursday. These winds will cause rough chop on Pyramid Lake. Small boats will be prone to capsizing and should remain off lake waters until conditions improve.

... Record warm temperatures possible later this week...
A strong area of high pressure will build over the West Coast on Thursday... and will spread across the Great Basin during the weekend. Record high temperatures are possible across the eastern Sierra starting Friday and across western Nevada Saturday and Sunday. Afternoon temperatures in lower elevations of western Nevada should top out in the lower 90s... about 20 degrees above normal. Afternoon highs on Monday will be somewhat cooler in the mid to upper 80s... but will still be around 15 degrees above normal.
For anyone planning outdoor activities later this week and this weekend... be prepared for the very warm temperatures. In addition ... If you plan to spend time at area lakes or rivers... water temperatures will still be in the mid 40s so use extra care to reduce the risk of hypothermia.

Strong high pressure will move over the West Coast on Wednesday and build into the Great Basin this weekend. Highs in the Nevada valleys are forecast to reach the low 90s this weekend... with the mid 70s to mid 80s in the Sierra. These temperatures will approach record highs on Thursday and Friday in the Sierra... and on Saturday in the western Nevada valleys.
