... Winter weather returns to Nevada...

A strong winter storm will arrive in western Oregon Friday
afternoon, spreading numerous showers of snow and snow pellets
across Nevada. While snow showers are likely Friday afternoon,
accumulations will be limited to less than one inch for valley
locations. Roads will remain wet during the daytime hours, with
few if any travel impacts. Isolated thunderstorms are possible
across northern Nevada. The heaviest showers of snow or snow
pellets will briefly reduce visibility Friday afternoon.

Snow shower coverage will decrease some Friday night, as the
winter storm sinks south into northern California Saturday
morning. Scattered to numerous snow or snow pellet showers will
redevelop Saturday afternoon. An isolated thunderstorm is again
possible. More significant snowfall of 3 to 6 inches is possible
along and south of U.S. Highway 50 Saturday afternoon and evening.

Valley roadways will remain wet during daylight hours. Winter
weather advisories may be required for snow that falls at night,
especially across central Nevada after sunset Saturday evening.

... Winter weather returning to northern and central Nevada...

Occasional snow is expected across Nevada today through Saturday.
Occasional light snow will fall across mainly Elko County today.
A much stronger winter storm will spread snow across all of
northern and central Nevada Friday and Saturday. All precipitation
will fall as snow, with a rain snow mix possible at times in the
lowest valleys near Winnemucca.

A widespread snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches is expected
across most Nevada valleys, extending over the three day period
from Thursday through Saturday. The mountains can expect 6 to 10
inches of snow over this same time period.

With limited snowfall rates, and no organized snowbands being
forecasted by the models, no winter weather headlines are planned
at this time. Still, this will be a big change from our recent
spell of mild and dry weather. Travel will be impacted by snow
covered roadways at times today through Saturday.

Another strong and cold winter storm is expected to bring
additional snow to the Great Basin next Tuesday.
