Fire Weather Watch
Statement as of 2:51 PM PDT on July 05, 2009
... Fire Weather Watch in effect from Tuesday morning through
Tuesday evening...
The National Weather Service in Las Vegas has issued a Fire
Weather Watch... which is in effect from 11 am Tuesday morning
through 11 PM Tuesday evening due to low relative humidity and
gusty southwest winds.
Southwest winds will increase across the southern Great Basin
Monday and Tuesday ahead of an area of low pressure off the
Pacific northwest coast. The winds will be strongest Tuesday.
Widespread southwest wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph will develop by
early afternoon and continue into the evening hours. At the same
time... humidity values will fall into the single digits.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Fire Weather Watch means that critical fire weather conditions
are possible. Listen for later forecasts and possible red flag
warnings.
