...Arctic cold expected in Nevada Tuesday and Wednesday...

A cold Arctic airmass originating from Montana and Canada will arrive in Nevada on Tuesday. Afternoon temperatures will be restricted to the teens for most locations. In addition, northeast winds will be strong and gusty Tuesday, with the strongest winds across Humboldt and Nye counties. The combination of cold temperatures and gusty winds will drive wind chill factors to near zero on Tuesday.

A clearing sky and fresh snow cover will allow subzero temperatures to be common new year's eve morning. The coldest valleys will fall to 10 to 15 degrees below zero.

Residents are urged to prepare homes, automobiles, pets, and livestock for the arrival of this Arctic air.

...Coldest air of the season expected across Nevada Tuesday and Wednesday...

Very cold air from the north will move into Nevada on Tuesday and Wednesday. High temperatures across eastern Nevada will remain in the teens Tuesday and Wednesday, with lower 20s across portions of Humboldt and Nye counties. Brisk northeast winds will accompany the cold temperatures Tuesday and Wednesday, averaging 10 to 25 mph, creating wind chill readings near zero.

Residents are urged to prepare homes, automobiles, pets, and livestock for the arrival of this Arctic air.
