The most distinct band of snow will continue to affect the Colorado border area between Vermejo Park...to Raton to Des Moines through the remainder of the morning into the early afternoon. The Raton port of entry along Interstate 25 has recorded 2 inches of snowfall so far and is expected to pick up an additional 1 to 2 inches through 1 PM. Northerly sustained winds between 20 to 30 mph will also impact portions of the northeast Highlands and plains and will create half mile visibilities at times. Elsewhere...small areas of snow showers will affect the area. Very little in the way of additional accumulations is expected.

Snow showers near the Sangre de Cristo Mountains will expand eastward across Raton Pass and Johnson Mesa through this afternoon... and to the far northeast Highlands and Union County by this evening. Expect 2 to 4 inches of new snow through Sunday night... with 1 to 3 inches additional snow over the summits and higher slopes near the Colorado border.
Snowfall through tonight will impact travel on Interstate 25 from Watrous north to the Colorado line... or from mile Post 365 to mile Post 460... and highways 64 and 87... Highway 56... and State Road 120.
Snow showers will taper off early Monday morning to ease these hazardous winter weather conditions.
