... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect until 10 PM MDT this
evening...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of north and central nm... including the following
areas... Central Highlands... Curry County... De Baca County... east
slopes Sangre de Cristo Mountains... eastern Lincoln County...
eastern San Miguel County... far northeast Highlands... Guadalupe
County... Harding County... northeast Highlands... Quay County...
Raton ridge/Johnson Mesa... Roosevelt County and Union County.

* Until 10 PM MDT this evening

* widespread showers and thunderstorms with very heavy rainfall
will continue to impact eastern New Mexico through the evening.
Slow moving or training storms will elevate the flash flooding
threat. One to two inches of rain is likely... with locally
higher amounts possible.

* Urban and low lying drainages will be the most susceptible to
flash flooding if heavy rainfall develops.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
northeastern De Baca County in east central New Mexico...
northeastern Guadalupe County in east central New Mexico...
southeastern San Miguel County in northeastern New Mexico...
Quay County in east central New Mexico...

* until 800 PM MDT

* at 453 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain due to thunderstorms producing very heavy rainfall in
the area along and immediately south of the I-40 corridor. These
storms will be capable of producing a quick 1 to 1.5 inches of
rainfall... along with gusty outflow winds and hail. Swift and high
flows will develop within low water crossings and ditches... along
with standing water in low lying areas.

* Locations impacted include...
Tucumcari... Quay... Logan... San Jon... Montoya... Ute Lake State
Park... Cuervo... Sumner Lake... Sumner Lake State Park and Ragland.

This includes Interstate 40 between mile markers 289 and 372.
