* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
east central Curry County in east central New Mexico

* until 445 PM MDT

* at 249 PM MDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain moving east into east-central and southeast Curry County.
Areas which received heavy rainfall Monday afternoon and night are
highly susceptible to flooding with any additional rainfall this

* Heavy water ponding or curb full water levels are expected in city
streets... Road intersections and some residential areas. Drainage
channels will be dangerous with fast flows and high water.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely.

To report severe weather... contact the nearest law enforcement

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through this afternoon...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of north and central New Mexico... including the
following areas... Chaves County plains... Curry County... De Baca
County and Roosevelt County.

* Through this afternoon

* an upper level low pressure system will cross New Mexico today.
Abundant moisture and instability ahead of the system will allow
for multiple rounds of showers and thunderstorms through this
afternoon. Excessive rainfall is possible with any storm as
moisture values remain greater than 200 percent of normal.
Localized areas may see another 1 to 2 inches of rain.

* Areas most vulnerable to flash flooding include areas that
received abundant rainfall on Monday... including around the
cities of Clovis and Roswell. Poor drainage areas as well as
urban areas around Fort Sumner and Portales will also be
susceptible to flash flooding.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash
