Numerous showers and a few embedded thunderstorms will continue through 9 PM MDT and likely beyond across central New Mexico. Movement will be to the north around 15 to 20 mph. Through this period the stronger storms will favor areas from eastern Socorro County to the west half or so of Lincoln County and also across northern Sandoval...southern Rio Arriba...northern Santa Fe and Los Alamos counties. Brief moderate to heavy downpours will dump as much as a quarter to half an inch of rain with the stronger activity.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued an

* Urban and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
central Bernalillo County in central New Mexico

* until 730 PM MDT

* at 532 PM MDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain associated with a cluster of thunderstorms moving
north across the Albuquerque Metro area. Rain amounts between
one half and three quarters of an inch in less than one hour
will be common with these storms.

* Heavy water ponding or curb full water levels are expected in city
streets... Road intersections and some residential areas. Drainage
channels will be dangerous with fast flows and high water.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

During heavy rains... keep children and pets away from arroyos and
drainage channels. Never cross fast flowing water on foot.

Excessive runoff will cause flooding of urban areas highways...
streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low lying
areas.
