A Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 5 PM MST Sunday.
Snow will continue across the north central and northwest
mountains through Sunday afternoon. Snow levels will lower to the
valley floor tonight as a strong upper level storm system
significantly lowers temperatures.
Up to three inches of snow has already fallen across the highest
elevations of the San Juan Mountains. Total snow accumulations of
6 to 10 inches are expected through Sunday afternoon across the
San Juan... jemez... and Sangre de Cristo Mountains. However...
locally higher amounts over one foot are possible across the
highest peaks and western slopes near the Colorado border.
As temperatures fall overnight... lower elevations will begin to
accumulate snow. Total snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches are
likely across the lower Chama River Valley... upper Rio Grande
Valley and northwest Highlands.
Snow will taper off Sunday evening to ease these dangerous winter
weather conditions.
