A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am MST Friday.
Snow will continue to impact the northeast and east central portions of New Mexico through the morning hours. Expect snow to gradually shift south as the day progresses... impacting the Sacramento Mountains and the adjacent High Plains. Snow will diminish from north to south from late Thursday night through Friday morning. Total snow accumulations will generally range from 1 to 3 inches across the eastern plains. Three to locally 6 inches of snow are expected in the mountains above 7500 feet. East winds at times up to 10 to 20 mph may create some blowing and drifting of dry fluffy snow... reducing visibilities to one mile or less. Much of eastern New Mexico can expect wind chill values in the single digits through Friday morning.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.
