... Winter Storm Warning now in effect until 8 am MST Saturday...

The Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow is now in effect until 8
am MST Saturday.

* Snow accumulations... additional accumulations of 1 to 3 inches
tonight in lower elevations... including the Santa Fe Metro area.
Higher mountain locations such as the Sandia and Manzano
Mountains will observe additional amounts of 2 to 6 inches
tonight.

* Timing... while snow has temporarily decreased in coverage and
intensity... additional batches of snow will develop and increase
over the area this evening and overnight. Periodic snow will
continue through the late morning Saturday.

* Winds... significant winds are not expected.

* Snow levels... temperatures will be cold enough for snow at all
locations.

* Local impacts... hazardous travel conditions are expected due
to snow covered and icy roads and reduced visibilities in
falling snow.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight... food...
and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
