Precipitation will tend to favor eastern Lincoln...De Baca...and western Chaves counties initially...with activity gradually moving into Sumner Lake State Park...Fort Sumner...Roswell...and Mesa. Stronger storms will be capable of frequent lightning...gusty winds up to 55 mph and small hail. Rainfall amounts from two tenths to one half inch will be common with locally higher amounts from stronger storms. Water will pond in low lying areas and low water crossings..

* Arroyo and small stream flood advisory for... west central Curry County in east central New Mexico south central Quay County in east central New Mexico northwestern Roosevelt County in east central New Mexico
* until 1045 PM MDT
* at 851 PM MDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated heavy rain over extreme southern Quay County near house and McAllister. This will impact arroyos and small streams draining into Alamosa creek. This includes highways 84 and 60 across northern Roosevelt and western Curry County... Tolar... Melrose and Saint Vrain.
* Strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos... small streams and over low water crossings.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings. Do not attempt to drive through these waters. Water in arroyos may travel many miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.
