Through 2 am...widespread showers and embedded thunderstorms will continue to slowly drift over the east central and southeastern plains of New Mexico. This activity will tend to favor southeastern Quay...Curry...Roosevelt...and eastern Chaves counties where continuous moderate to heavy downpours will continue. Additional rainfall amounts will generally range between a quarter of an inch upwards to one and a half inches in portions of Curry and Roosevelt counties. Water will pond in fields and on streets...and will fill ditches...culverts...drainage areas and other low lying areas. Some flooding of these areas and other low water crossings is expected. Dangerous cloud to ground lightning and erratic wind gusts will also accompany this activity.

* until 100 am MDT
* at 1107 PM MDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated heavy rain had fallen in southern Curry County near Saint Vrain... Melrose... and Ranchvale. This areas includes highways 84 and 60... State Road 224... State Road 311... and State Road 268.
* Strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos... small streams and over low water crossings.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Both localized and distant heavy rainfall will create dangerous flows in arroyos and over low water crossings. Do not attempt to drive through these waters. Water in arroyos may travel many miles and take hours to reach your location from upstream rain areas.
