Severe Thunderstorm Watch in effect through 3 PM MDT... Showers and thunderstorms should increase across west and central New Mexico through the morning as they head quickly to the northeast at 40 to 45 mph. Most will be near and south of a line from Zuni Pueblo to Rio Rancho and also east of the Sandia and Manzano Mountains through noontime. The strongest storms will most likely be in Catron County through this period and will be capable of producing strong gusty winds between 45 and 60 mph...hail...very heavy rain and some lightning strikes. A few locations that will be impacted by the precipitation include Glenwood...Reserve...Datil...the Bosque del Apache...Clines Corners and Encino. Individual thunderstorm rainfall will range from two tenths to nearly a half inch...though later today some stronger storms may produce between three quarters of an inch and an inch and a quarter...especially in and adjacent to the Gila region.

... High Wind Warning in effect from 9 am this morning to 9 PM MDT this evening...
The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a High Wind Warning... which is in effect from 9 am this morning to 9 PM MDT this evening.
South to southwest winds of 35 to 45 mph with gusts up to 60 mph are likely late this morning through the early evening hours. The strongest winds will develop east of the Chuska Mountains... which includes portions of the Highway 491 corridor... as well as the higher ridges and below southwest to northeast oriented passes and canyons. Very strong cross winds will impact Interstate 40... particularly from Grants to the Arizona border.
Remember... a High Wind Warning means hazardous weather conditions are imminent or highly likely.

... Strong thunderstorm moving over northwest Cibola County...
At 1032 am MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a strong thunderstorm... capable of producing winds up to 50 mph and hail up to one half inch in diameter 10 miles east of El Morro. Movement was northeast at 50 mph.
Locations in the path of this storm include Bluewater Lake... Milan and Prewitt.
This storm was not producing severe weather at this time. However... persons in the path of this storm are advised to monitor the weather situation closely. Listen for possible warnings and be prepared to take appropriate action.
