Isolated showers and thunderstorms will continue across western and central portions of New Mexico through the mid evening hours. The most pronounced activity will be found across northern Rio Arriba as well as eastern Catron and western Socorro counties. Storm movement will remain brisk between 45 to 55 mph. The stronger storms will contain wind gusts between 45 to 55 mph and sometimes higher...frequent cloud to ground lightning and pea sized hail. Heavy rain up to a quarter of an inch in 15 minutes will also be possible.

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a
* Severe Thunderstorm Warning for... east central Colfax County in northeast New Mexico northwestern Union County in northeast New Mexico
* until 945 PM MDT
* at 855 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm capable of producing penny size hail... and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was located 6 miles west of Capulin... or about 15 miles west of Des Moines... and moving northeast at 55 mph. Another severe storm was located 4 miles northeast of Springer and was also moving towards the northeast.

Severe storms produce damaging winds and large hail. Move indoors and avoid windows.
