* until 545 PM MDT
* at 453 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated a severe thunderstorm. This storm was located near Dona Ana... or near Las Cruces... and moving south at 5 mph.
* Other locations in the warning include but are not limited to Mesilla
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
In addition to large hail and damaging winds... continuous cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately! Lightning is one of natures number one killers. Remember... if you can hear thunder... you are close enough to be struck by lightning.

* Flash Flood Warning for... central Otero County in south central New Mexico...

* at 503 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated flash flooding from a thunderstorm over the warned area.
* Locations in the warning include but are not limited to Mescalero
The southern Sacramento Mountains from Mescalero south to Timberon are included in this warning.
Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams... country roads... as well as farmland along the banks of creeks and streams.

The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* portions of south central New Mexico and southwest Texas... including the following areas... in south central New Mexico... Sierra County lakes region... southern desert... southern Sacramento Mountains and Tularosa basin/southern desert. In southwest Texas... El Paso and Hudspeth.
* Through late tonight
* moist unstable air continues to flow into southern New Mexico and western Texas while a cold front extends into the region. An upper level disturbance will move into the area this afternoon and tonight with scattered showers and thunderstorms developing. Slow storm movement will result in areas of very heavy rainfalls. Many of the storms will produce rainfall of around one inch in less than an hour... and a few of the storms may produce two to three inches of rainfall.
