Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 4:08 AM MDT on July 06, 2015

... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect from noon MDT today through
late tonight...

The Flash Flood Watch continues for

* a portion of north and central nm... including the following
areas... Central Highlands... Curry County... east slopes Sangre de
Cristo Mountains... eastern San Miguel County... far northeast
Highlands... Guadalupe County... Harding County... northeast
Highlands... northern Sangre de Cristos above 9500 feet/Red
River... Quay County... Raton ridge/Johnson Mesa... southern Sangre
de Cristos above 9500 feet... Union County and west slopes Sangre
de Cristo Mountains.

* From noon MDT today through late tonight

* a back door cold front moving into the northeast plains will
provide focus for numerous showers and thunderstorms Monday
afternoon through the overnight period. Due to a very moist and
unstable atmosphere... any storm will be capable of very heavy
rain. Slow moving or training storms will exacerbate the flash
flooding threat. One to two inches of rain is likely... with
locally higher amounts possible.

* Burn scar areas and very steep terrain... locations that have
received recent heavy rainfall... and urban drainages will be the
most susceptible to flash flooding if heavy rainfall develops.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to
flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
Monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash
flood warnings be issued.
