... Severe Thunderstorm Warning remains in effect for west central
Union and east central Colfax counties until 815 PM MDT...

At 745 PM MDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar continued to
indicate a severe thunderstorm capable of producing half dollar size
hail... and damaging winds in excess of 60 mph. This storm was
located 7 miles southwest of Capulin... or about 16 miles west of Des
Moines... moving east at 35 mph. Another severe storm capable of
producing half dollar size hail was located 5 miles southeast of
Capulin.

* Locations impacted include...
rural Union County..
rural Colfax County...

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

If you are in the path of these storms... seek shelter inside a sturdy
building and stay away from windows.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until 900 PM MDT
Tuesday evening for northeast New Mexico.

Statement as of 7:26 PM MDT on June 18, 2013

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued an

* Arroyo and Small Stream Flood Advisory for...
east central Colfax County in northeast New Mexico
west central Union County in northeast New Mexico

* until 930 PM MDT

* at 723 PM MDT National Weather Service Doppler radar indicated
heavy rain from thunderstorms stretching from just east of
Raton... to Capulin... to Grenville. These storms will continue to
move over the same area exacerbating the potential for ponding on
roadways and minor flooding. Radar estimates up to 2 inches of
rain has fallen in some spots. This includes U.S. Highway 64 and
87 as well as State Highway 193.

* Strong flows and high water levels are expected in arroyos... small
streams and over low water crossings.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

The heavy rainfall and slow movement of these storms may result in
flooding of Road intersections and low-lying areas. Waters may begin
to run in normally dry arroyos.

Fire Weather Warning, Fire Weather Watch

... Red flag warning in effect from noon to 8 PM MDT Wednesday...
... Fire Weather Watch in effect from Thursday afternoon through
Thursday evening...

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a red flag
warning... which is in effect from noon to 8 PM MDT Wednesday. A
Fire Weather Watch has also been issued. This Fire Weather Watch
is in effect from Thursday afternoon through Thursday evening.
The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect.

* Area and timing... mountainous terrain of northern and central
New Mexico as well as the adjacent High Plains... northern and
middle Rio Grande Valley and northwest plateau noon through
early evening on Wednesday. Another round over the same areas
possible Thursday afternoon to early evening.

* 20 foot winds... southwest 15 to 30 mph with gusts between 35 and
45 mph. Strongest readings found over the highest ridges and areas
near to the Colorado/Arizona state lines as well as to the Lee
of the central mountains.

* Relative humidity... minimum values between 3 to 9 pct Wednesday
and 4 to 15 percent Thursday. Lowest readings west.

* Impacts... any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.
