Winter Weather Advisory
Statement as of 2:42 PM MST on February 11, 2012

... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 5 am to 8 PM MST
Sunday...

The National Weather Service in El Paso TX/Santa Teresa has
issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect from
5 am to 8 PM MST Sunday.

* Event: snow amounts of 3 to 5 inches will be possible for the
Sacramento Mountains. Snow may be mixed with sleet at times for
lower elevations.

* Timing: accumulating snow will be possible from 5 am on Sunday
morning through 8 PM Sunday night.

* Impact: snow and sleet will make roads slick and hazardous.
Breezy conditions may generate periods of drifting snow.

* Winds: winds will initially be from the east in the morning at
15 to 25 mph... then will shift from the south and southwest in
the afternoon to 20 to 30 mph.

* Snow levels: snow levels will be down to 5000 feet in the
morning then rise during the day to 7500 feet with a rain snow
mix occurring in the afternoon.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow... sleet... or
freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for
slippery roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.





Special Weather Statement
Statement as of 4:38 PM MST on February 11, 2012

A cold front will push further west into southwest New Mexico
tonight. Strong easterly winds behind the front will result in
locally windy conditions... especially along west slopes of local
area mountains. Wind gusts up to 50 mph may occur through tonight.
Winds will diminish somewhat by tomorrow morning as precipitation
chances begin to increase.
