... Flood Watch now in effect from 4 PM EDT this afternoon through Tuesday morning...
The Flood Watch is now in effect for
* portions of northern New Jersey and northwest New Jersey... including the following areas... in northern New Jersey... Middlesex... Morris... Somerset... Sussex and Warren. In northwest New Jersey... Hunterdon.
* From 4 PM EDT this afternoon through Tuesday morning
* rain... possibly heavy at times this afternoon and tonight will taper off by Tuesday morning as low pressure moves across the region. General rain amounts are forecast to be around one and a half inches... with local amounts possibly around two inches.
* Since streams and rivers are elevated... and surface and especially subsurface moisture is high... additional small stream and even river flooding could occur tonight and Tuesday. Residents in areas along the Passaic and Raritan River basins where flooding was recent may experience renewed flooding into the middle of this coming week... and are urged to check preparedness requirements and be ready for action if a warning is issued or flooding occurs.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.
You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible flood warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
