Flash Flood Watch
Statement as of 3:14 PM EDT on July 20, 2008
... Flash Flood Watch remains in effect through Monday evening...
The Flash Flood Watch continues for
* portions of western Maine and northern New Hampshire...
including the following areas... in western Maine... Central
Somerset... northern Franklin... northern Oxford... southern
Franklin... southern Oxford and southern Somerset. In northern
New Hampshire... northern Carroll... northern Coos... northern
Grafton... southern Carroll... southern Coos and southern
Grafton.
* Through Monday evening
* a warm moist flow of air over a stationary front across the
mountains of New Hampshire and western Maine will be the focus
for heavy rain this afternoon into Monday. At this time... it
appears as though the heaviest rain will fall across the
mountains... where 2 to 3 inches of rain is possible. The
heaviest rain is expected this evening and tonight... and the
threat should diminish during the day Monday... as drier air
tries to move south from Quebec. Before this... the warm and
moist air in place could trigger flash flooding.
