Tropical Weather: Tropical Storm Alberto (North Atlantic) Invest 92 (East Pacific)
Weather Summary
Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday, May 20, 2012. The tropical season got off to a bit of an early start on Saturday as a tropical disturbance off the Carolina Coast became Tropical Storm Alberto. The storm is expected to slowly make its way up the eastern seaboard over the next couple of days, possibly skirting the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Rain and thunderstorms could make their way to the Mid-Atlantic coast as the storm moves northeastward. For more information on this storm, please see http://www.wunderground.com/tropical/.

Meanwhile, a cold front will move through the Plains on its way into the Upper Midwest and Mississippi Valley. This front will provide rain and thunderstorms from Oklahoma through Michigan. Some of these thunderstorms could turn severe, so residents in the Plains should stay on alert for any thunderstorm development in their area. Cool air will spill into the Northern Plains and Upper Midwest behind this front, bringing cool overnight temperatures to the Dakotas and Minnesota.

Also, mostly sunny skies are expected for California and the Southwest, making for nice viewing conditions for the solar eclipse. The eclipse will begin just after 5:00 p.m. Pacific time, and should be able to be viewed from California through western Texas.

The Northeast will rise into the 70s and 80s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 80s and 90s. The Mississippi Valley will also rise into the 80s and 90s, while the Southwest will see temperatures in the 90s and 100s.
