Statement as of 1:00 PM CDT on October 13, 2008 ... Record daily maximum rainfall set at North Platte yesterday... A record rainfall of 1.88 inches was set at North Platte on October 12th... breaking the old record of 1.75 inches set in 1997.

	Public Information Statement
Statement as of 2:25 PM CDT on October 13, 2008 ... Heavy rainfall occurred over parts of western and north central Nebraska over the weekend... Strong upper level low pressure moved across the Central Plains Saturday... in association with a surface cold front... and a plume of subtropical moisture from the remnants of Hurricane Norbert... which extended from baja Mexico into the Central Plains. Rainfall amounts of one to three inches were common... especially the past 48 hours ending at 700 am CDT Monday. Rainfall reports and Doppler radar storm total precipitation estimates... showed the heaviest band of rain... in an area from Wallace and Dickens... north northeast through North Platte.
