... Severe weather across western and north central Nebraska Thursday night...
A supercell thunderstorm developed over Sheridan and western Cherry counties around 3 PM CDT and moved to the southeast crossing Highway 61 with reports of nickel to Golf Ball size hail and heavy rain from 1 to 2 inches. The thunderstorm would prove to be long lived as it crossed seven counties with a total path length of 165 miles before dissipating. Hail with the largest diameter of 3 inches were reported in Lincoln County. Several severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings were issued during the thunderstorm duration.
A second round of thunderstorms moved across the Nebraska Panhandle and moved east into western Nebraska between 9 and 10 PM CDT. The line of storms produced damaging thunderstorm winds in excess of 60 mph as it moved east across western Nebraska. The thunderstorms moved east out of western and north central Nebraska in the early morning hours Friday.
